How A Simple Paint Color Change Can Be Huge!

March 18, 2018 1 Comment

Last summer when we were finishing the construction on our new home, I sprayed all of our trim in white.  Along with white trim, I also sprayed the wood framed patio door the same color.  It was funny, immediately after that first pass of the sprayer I knew I hated that door being white.

But here’s the deal…everything was taped and ready to be painted right then, I was already spraying white paint, I was OVER the whole thing.  We were so tired of working on the house and just wanted to move in as quickly as possible.  So repainting a patio door was not on my list of things to complete before moving in.  I knew those doors should’ve been black, and one day I’d get around to doing it.

This photo was taken after I finished painting everything and cleaned up all of the paper.

It’s so comical to look back at this picture!  It’s so blah.

Fast forward about nine months, I couldn’t take it another day.  I don’t know why I put off easy stuff like this!  It only took 4 hours start to finish.

Isn’t it so much better!?  I just shake my head…no idea what possessed me to go white in the first place.

Here’s what I used:

General Finishes Lamp Black

Polycrylic In Matte

My favorite shorty brush:)

I painted 2 coats of Lamp Black then 2 coats of Polycrylic.  I didn’t bother to tape the glass, after the paint was dry I simply used a razor to scrape the paint off of the glass.
